Honors Program: A pathway to excellence.

HON 201/401 Sport and Society

THE COURSE WILL ANALYZE THE STRUCTURE AND ROLES OF SPORT IN MODERN SOCIETY FROM CULTURAL, ECONOMIC, HISTORICAL, AND POLITICAL PERSPECTIVES. SPECIAL FOCUS WILL BE ON SPORT IN AMERICAN SOCIETY WITH COMPARISONS DRAWN WITH THE REST OF THE WORLD. EVALUATION WILL BE BASED ON CLASS PARTICIPATION, SHORT WRITING ASSIGNMENTS, AND A SERVICE LEARNING PROJECT.

HON 201/401 Sport and Society is available for either lower or upper division credit.

Substitutions: Possible course substitutions (subject to departmental approval):
200-LEVEL MAY SUBSTITUTE FOR GENED REQUIREMENTS IN HIST OR SOCIAL SCIENCES
400-LEVEL MAY SUBSTITUTE FOR ANTH/HIST/POLS/SOC 409 OR POSSIBLY AN UPPER-LEVEL ELECTIVE IN BUSINESS
