Honors Student Application [Student Application]
The Honors Program Courses provide a forum for faculty and students to engage in special courses. The Honors Program is open to all students whose desire to learn is not bounded by traditional disciplines and classrooms.
In addition, Honors students should
- have the intellectual curiosity to pursue independent research
and creative endeavors,
- be committed to sharing their knowledge with others,
- be committed to improving their skills in reading and writing.
Students apply to the Honors program by writing a letter that summarizes their learning experiences and how they envision contributing to the program.
Graduation with Honors Endorsement [Application to Graduate with Honors]
Students may apply to graduate with an Honors Endorsement by successfully completing 16 credits in Honors courses of which 6-8 are at the upper level (300-400). Honors Forum counts toward this total number of credits as does an Honors Thesis.
Honors Student Association
The purpose of this organization is to facilitate interdisciplinary learning through the Honors Program at UM Western. The Honors Student Association may organize speakers, trips, lecture series, service-learning opportunities etc. with the purpose of furthering each student's educational experience.
